Physic (physician/doctor/apothecary) – a place for healing and wellbeing.

Plants and medicine, gardening and healing have long been entwined.
Urban environments can be busy, stressful, hard at times.
An Urban Physic garden offers a place to slow down.
A place for plants, creative arts and science to merge.
A safe place to nurture our plant kin and ourselves.

When Jude Sellen Cole approached Bensham Grove with the concept of creating an Urban Physic Garden for wellbeing, we were delighted to offer her a small corner of our grounds to bring her idea to life.

Jude and her volunteers (along with some help from Bensham Grove volunteers) worked hard over the next 15 weeks to clear the land and make it ready for the planting that would soon begin.

Each Wednesday at llam, until the end of March, visitors may come along for a few hours to create small willow rectangles as part of the Installation.

No experience is needed as volunteers will be on hand to help and give demonstrations.

Those who wish to draw or write poetry are equally welcome as part of this creative project.
